Zorya Ukrainian Dance Association Folklore Entertainers

Zorya Ukrainian Dance Association

The Zorya Ukrainian dance ensemble was established in 1997, by the initiative of 14 passionate individuals who built the foundation for our organization. The name “Zorya” was chosen because, when translated, it means “a Burst of Stars”! The aspiring dancers longed to reach new heights with their skill, technique, and knowledge of Ukrainian culture and dance. Their purpose was to promote Ukrainian culture in Thunder Bay, Ontario and beyond, through their love of Ukrainian dance!

The group has shared their vibrancy at many events including: various weddings of friends and family, assisted living facilities for the aged, local festivals, charity events, and not to forget Zorya’s Malanka celebrations and Zorya’s annual year end concert at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

Zorya’s typical dance season runs from September to May, and offers affordable dance lessons for all ages. Tuition starts at $200 which includes full dance year costs, costumes, local performances, a year end concert at the TBCA, along with many other fun opportunities throughout the year. You do not need to be Ukrainian to enjoy the fun and adventure! Anyone interested in Ukrainian dance is welcome!
